Camp Lone Star Annual Picnic Set July 25
Camp Lone Star will be having their annual picnic on Sunday July 25 at Camp Lone Star in La Grange. The day includes music starting at 10:30 a.m., and outdoor worship service at 11 a.m. led by Pastor Ryan Neuhaus, a barbeque meal at noon and the benefit auctions from 1-3 p.m. The swimming pool will also be open for those wanting to enjoy the cool water. Each year Camp Lone Star serves over 11,000 individuals through retreats, outdoor education and of course their summer camp ministry. This annual event is a great opportunity to show support for the camp and help it to continue the ministry into the future.
Healing Hearts and Friends
Healing Hearts and Friends adventure for July is to Majek’s Vineyard and Winery located in Moravia (south of Schulenburg) on Saturday July 17. They will enjoy country music by Sean Orr and Texas Gold, try wine tasing from the vineyard (should you choose to do so) and have dinner at the restaurant prior to leaving at 6 p.m. The only cost is the food and drink that you partake. They will leave the church parking lot at 1 p.m. and return between 6-7 p.m. All are welcome to join. Bible Study
The Bible study group at Holy Cross will be starting a new study on “The Chosen” on Wednesday, July 7 at 6:30 p.m. This is the official companion study to season one of the “The Chosen,” the groundbreaking television series about the life of Jesus.
“What does it mean to be Chosen?” Bible study parallels each episode, connecting readers to the Bible in a brand-new way. It includes a deeper look at Isaiah 43 and its fulfillment in Jesus and the lives of His followers (including us), script excerpts, quotes and illustrations from the show as well as guiding questions for groups or individuals.
Being chosen by Jesus has beautiful and far-reaching implications-although it says even more about the Chooser than the choosees. We are loved because He’s love. We are saved because He’s merciful. We belong to the family of God because Jesus invites us, making the Bible and all its promises as true for us today as it was for God’s chosen nation.
What does it actually mean to be Chosen? To answer that question, we will be going back to the Old Testament, which will then lead us to the New Testament, which always leads us directly to Jesus.

Holy Cross Church Picnic
Holy Cross will be having their church picnic this year. Mark your calendars for Labor Day weekend Sunday Sept. 5. There will be lots of great BBQ, the ladies will have side dishes available and as always lots of great baked goods. An afternoon of music and a live auction are planned. Holy Cross 150th Anniversary
The 150th Anniversary Committee at Holy Cross Lutheran is looking for people who would be willing to be interviewed about the history of Holy Cross and the Warda community for the 150th Anniversary book/video. Interviews are flexible and will be scheduled at a location, time and date that is convenient for you. Graduation
Brianna Lehmann graduated from Giddings Highs School on May 28. She will be attending Blinn College in the fall. Brianna is the daughter of Ricky and Janis Lehmann and the granddaughter of Wally and Carol Lehmann.
Sympathy
Our sympathy to the family and friends of Pastor Paul Hartfield who was called to his heavenly home on June 19. His funeral was June 24 at St. Paul Serbin.

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

The Bible Class at Holy Cross started Sunday, June 27, with a three-week class on “Doxology: The Encore”.
Faith Lutheran High School
Registration is under way for the 2021-2022 school year at FLHS. If you are interested in enrolling contact the school at (979) 242-2889 and schedule a visit. There is a scholarship program available.

Sewing Circle
The sewing circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon in the old fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome to join this group. You do not have to be a member of Holy Cross to join them.
