Burks Running for Fayetteville Council

Cade Burks

I’m Cade Burks and I’m running for city council in Place II. I moved to Fayetteville because I love this small town and don’t want to see it lose the distinctive character I’ve come to appreciate and cherish.

My qualifications for the position include over 30 years of management experience, neighborhood planning, financial management, tracking, forecasting and presenting budgets showing a clear picture of how tax dollars are being spent I’ve volunteered for a homeowner association to support local schools, security, and economic development

I’m a history buff and love the history of Fayetteville and our home that is a Texas Historical Registered Landmark built in 1896. My ancestors fought in the American Revolution and came to Texas in the 1840s. My great-great-great grandfather, Joseph H, Burks, Sr., was a Texas legislator, from 1851 to 1854. He served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1855 until his death.

I’m a graduate of Texas A&M, have two boys ages 22 and 24 and have been married for 30 years to my wife Wendy. We attend St. Paul Lutheran church.

One issue I would like to address is the 18-wheeler gravel truck traffic. We have 1,300 trucks coming through our neighborhoods every week and growing. We all appreciate the benefits of the trucking industry and TxDOT, but taking private property and adding stop lights in Fayetteville to accommodate even more trucks going to Houston is not a good path forward. The plan is to keep Fayetteville viable and safe and to preserve the tranquil way of life we value.

I don’t have all the answers and I’m not going to tell you that Ido. I will say that I’m dedicated to addressing issues that are threatening our way of life today that could grow into ones we can’t do anything about tomorrow. That’s why I’m running for city council. I’d love to have a one-on-one discussion, so I can learn what is important to you. Together we can work to preserve all the unique characteristics of this very special community.
