Brush Fire Sparks Outside La Grange

La Grange Volunteer Fire Department put out a small brush fire north of La Grange Tuesday, Jan. 18.

The call came in around 3:10 p.m. reporting the fire on property off SH 159 near Cottonwood Rd. Workers clearing the property started a small brush fire. A gust of wind blew some embers into some thickly wooded land across a fence line.

Upon arrival, firefighters quickly extinguished a fire burning in the woods. The fire spread to a tall dead tree that was standing. Firefighters cut down the tree and put it out as well.

They cleared the scene around 4:30 p.m.
