Brown Announces Candidacy for the Fayette Co. SWCD Board, District 341 (Zone 5 )

Mark Brown of La Grange is announcing his candidacy for Director of the Fayette County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) #341 Zone 5.

Mark and his wife Cheryl live on their homestead outside La Grange, where they manage cattle and native grasslands, and lease additional acreage for grazing. Over the past two decades, they have been deeply involved in land stewardship, quail habitat restoration, and range management in Fayette County. The Browns have been recognized for their past stewardship practices.

“I believe our Soil and Water Conservation District should continue its strong tradition of supporting local landowners while also preparing for future challenges,” Mark said. “Our district is facing increasing pressure from development, water demands, and challenging land use. I want to ensure that Fayette County ranchers, farmers and land stewards have a strong voice in conservation decisions.” Mark emphasized that his priorities include: Protecting soil and water resources for future generations, supporting working lands and the families who manage them, and promoting voluntary conservation programs that benefit both agriculture and wildlife.

“Fayette County has always been defined by its land and its people. I am committed to serving our community with fairness, integrity, and respect for the land we depend on.”

Election Day for the Fayette County SWCD is Oct. 14, with voting now underway at the SWCD office.
