Books Needed for Little Free Libraries
All four of our Little Free Libraries are in need of books. We’re asking for your help so we may continue inspiring readers and expanding book access to everyone in our small community. Grab one and share one or grab two and share a few.

Central Texas Food Bank
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Friday, May 21 from 10-11 a.m. Drive-thru only. Someone will direct traffic. Everyone is being asked to remain in their cars and to make room inside their trunks or truck beds for the prepackaged food boxes. These are placed into each vehicle by volunteers. All clients and volunteers are required to wear facemasks and to social distance.
Good Old Summertime Classic
The Good Old Summertime Classic bike ride, hosted by Fayetteville Cycling, is always held on the first Sunday in June. It kicks off this year from the Fayetteville square at 8 a.m. on June 6.
The Bike MS: Texas MS 150 sanctioned training ride is open to cyclists of all levels and ages. All routes begin and end at the square so the three routes (seven, 17 and 28 miles) can be ridden individually, all together for a total of 52 miles, or choose any combination for longer distances. The ride is fully supported with traffic control, SAG wagons and smiling volunteers providing water and snacks at several rest stops along the way. A complimentary lunch at the end of the ride will be served until 2 p.m.
The day before, an informal ride begins at 4 p.m. on the square followed by a Meet & Greet Reception. All proceeds from the ride benefit Fayetteville ISD (FISD). In the last 23 years, Fayetteville Cycling has donated over $120,000 to the FISD and hopes to continue this program for many more years.

Briley’s Upholstery
It looks like the name of the new shop that now occupies the old Kubena garage in the square may be “Briley’s Upholstery.” Owner Rebecca McKee owns the first Briley’s located in Central Austin. As the old 2,200 sq. ft. garage is being remodeled, she’s working hard to maintain the charm of the building built in 1925, using historic style #117 wood siding on the exterior and a mix of shiplap and board and batten intermingled with upholstered walls inside. The shop will offer a mix of antique and modern furniture, home decor and lighting. Upholstery fabric and wallpaper selections will be available for custom orders. Opening date is TBD.
Last Day of School
Fayetteville ISD students are free for the summer at 12 p.m. this Friday, May 21, the last day of school. The seniors graduation ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. at the track that night. Congratulations to the track team for going to the state finals and to the Lions baseball team who advanced to the playoffs.
Wild Week
It’s been such a crazy, difficult year for the students that “Wild Week,” running from May 17 to 21, was created to end it all with a bang. High schoolers took the Stop the Bleed course conducted by EMS and first responders. A tour of Fayetteville Bank taught students about safety deposit boxes, how to save money and a variety of other constructive tips. Advice on hunting and boat safety, etiquette lessons and trips to the movies rounded out the wild times.
