Movie Crude
The movie CRUDE, filmed in our tiny town over the summer, has been accepted into the Texas Film Belt Project. The Texas Film Belt Project is a special competition to promote filmmaking along Interstate 10.
This contemporary oilfield comedy combines slapstick, a touch of horror and plenty of Texas humor. Our own Mayor Mike Stroup played a character named Lefty.
“We chose to film in Fayetteville partly because it’s a very film-friendly city. The aesthetic is bar none and the hospitality is great,” stated Jody “Rowdy” Stelzig, producer, director and writer of the film. “The Fayetteville jail replicated the jail scene in the film. We filmed at Joe’s, the square and along FM 955 for driving sequences. The old white church across from the square served as the office for the CRUDE oil company.”
