Lake Fayette Impacted
Paul Travis DeDear is battling a rare type of cancer, Myelodsyplastic Syndrome, or MDS. He’s receiving blood and platelet transfusions several times a week. MD Anderson is setting up a donor coach at the old fire station on the square on Saturday, March 6 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. They need 40-50 people to preregister as soon as they can to ensure the coach will be there. What a Week!
Whew! What a week to remember. And many of us would like to forget it. A special shout out goes to Fayetteville Propane, Fayette Electric Co-op, the City of Fayetteville, LCRA and Bluebonnet Electric for working hard to keep us warm and dry. Neighbors helped neighbors all over this town.
Need Support
A few more friends need our support. On Sunday, Feb. 28, Baca’s 159 Junction on SH-159 is hosting a benefit for our neighbors Mike “Buddah” Gideon, Jessica and Logan Spanihe and Logan’s girlfriend Sarah. They recently lost almost all they had in their house fire. Unfortunately Mother Nature hit Lake Fayette hard too. There is no electricity, water, restroom or shower facilities. But the boat ramps at Oak Thicket and Park Prairie are now back open. They’ll notify everyone when the rest of the park is up and running.
Student Show at ARTS
From Feb. 27 through March 20 a student show at ARTS, Brushstrokes New Vision, will feature artwork courtesy of the students of Mary Quiros and Karen Vernon.
