Blackwell Laid to Rest In Pitman Cemetery

William Carroll Blackwell passed away on Jan. 13, and was laid to rest with graveside services in Pitman Cemetery Jan. 21. Carroll was the son of the late William Roy Blackwell and Estelle Fleck Blackwell. Carroll was a small business owner most all of his life.

Carroll is survived by his wife Connie Sanchez Blackwell of Waelder, three sons: William Bryan Blackwell and wife Brittany of Gonzales; Dustin Blackwell and wife Kelly of La Grange, and one daughter, Kelly Blackwell Soto and husband James of Dallas. He also is survived by four sisters: Roy Elaine Overcash of Virginia; Janice Mae McDougal Day of Freeport; Terry Lynn Bowling of La Grange; and Sherry Gwynn Lamar of Midland. He also has eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one sister, Yvette Estelle Mallans and one granddaughter, Ashley Raena Blackwell.

Road Hazards

If you are traveling north out of Muldoon towards West Point on FM 154 be aware there is some utility work going on along the roadways. Trucks and machines are along the road with crews working. Watch out for workmen in and around the area.

Also be aware of that the railroad is putting out cross ties to start working on crossings in the area. This might possibly cause some alterations to the traffic flow over the railroad tracks, so be aware of what is going on in and around the area.

Also be aware of wildlife in the area. Hogs and deer are once again out and about on the roadways and are getting hit by vehicles.

Out And About

John Schwartzenburg took off last week to visit his uncle Ralph Schwartzenburg in Marksville, Louisiana. On his way to Marksville John picked up his brother Irvin Schwartzenburg and his wife Kayleen and daughter Becky. They all enjoyed a short socially distanced visit reconnecting and strengthening the family bonds.

Lending Library

The Little Lending Library is still very much available for anyone who is wishing to read. There are books of all kinds available and are changing out regularly. It is a free resource to our community and offers a chance to enjoy a book you may not have otherwise. Borrow a book or leave a book has brought lots of different types of books to the little “house” in front of the fire station across the road/tracks from the Muldoon Mercantile. Be sure and stop by and browse the selection that is always changing.
