Berger Running for County Judge

My name is Lori Berger. I’m a proud mother of three and grandmother of six and have called Flatonia home for the past six decades. I am pleased to tell you that I am officially announcing my candidacy for Fayette County Judge. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to those of you who don’t know me.

Well before deciding to seek the office of County Judge, I’ve always made community service a priority. I have served on many boards including the Flatonia City Council from 1991 until 1998. I was then elected Mayor of the City of Flatonia and proudly served until May 2006. I’ve also served on the Fayette Memorial Hospital Board and St. Marks Hospital Board for numerous years and have worshiped at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia for the past several decades.

My public service experience includes not only local but state service. I served on the Capital Area Regional Review Committee when Governor Ann Richards appointed me in 1992 and then-Governor George W. Bush reappointed me for another term in 1996. In 2005,Governor Rick Perry appointed me to the State Community Development Review Committee. And, in May of 2009, Governor Rick Perry appointed me to serve on the LCRA board of directors for a term of six years. During that time, I was appointed to Chair the Community Development Committee and chaired our Community Development Grant Committee.

My service on the LCRA board allowed me to travel all over Texas and learn exactly how rural communities are best revitalized and can continue to provide quality jobs in a challenging time when jobs are continually being pushed out of rural Texas to major cities. I was blessed to be reappointed by Governor Abbott for another six years in 2015 and recently retired from LCRA.

My experiences in managing local government and providing communities with the resources they need to improve infrastructure and grow jobs in their communities will serve me well as your next County Judge. My goals for our County if elected are simple: better roads, more job opportunities and supporting our law enforcement and first responders to keep crime low.

I would very much like to use my leadership skills to become the next County Judge to represent every citizen in Fayette County. Working together takes less energy than working apart. I am respectfully asking for your vote on March 1, 2022 in the Republican primary election.
