Benefit for Conway Whited Set Aug. 22, Activities Continue at Lost Pines

A benefit for Conway Whited, infant son of Justin and Amanda Whited, will be held Sunday, Aug. 22 at the Holy Cross picnic grounds. A drive thru meal will be served from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. consisting of pork steak, green beans, corn, homemade noodles and bread. Tickets are $12 each. Baked goods will be available for a free-will donation. Raffle tickets are also being sold for $20 each. The drawing will be held at 2 p.m. on the same day. Winners do not have to be present to win and it will be streamed via Facebook live. Camp Lost Pines

The ministry of Camp Lost Pines in Warda continues long after Summer Youth Camps. They welcomed the Manoj Mundra family over the Independence Day weekend and extended a warm welcome to members of The Church of God-Texas, as they hold their Family Camp and State Convention on July 7-12 at Camp Lost Pines. They also look forward to hosting the bi-annual Hansen/Lyons Family Reunion on July 14-18 at my “Favorite Camp.” You can learn more about the camp by visiting their website at camplostpines.com

Healing Hearts and Friends

Healing Hearts and Friends adventure for July is to Majek’s Vineyard and Winery located in Moravia (Schulenburg), on Saturday, July 17. They will enjoy country music by Sean Orr and Texas Gold, taste wines from the vineyard (should you choose to do so), and eat dinner at the restaurant prior to leaving at 6 p.m. The only cost is the food and drink that you partake. They will leave the church parking lot at 1 p.m. and return between 6-7 p.m. All are welcome to join. Bible Study

The Bible study group at Holy Cross will be starting a new study on “The Chosen” on Wednesday, July 7 at 6:30 p.m. They have selected “The Chosen” as their study. This is the official companion study to season 1 of “The Chosen,” the ground-breaking television series about the life of Jesus.

The study guide will be available on Wednesday, July 7 for $10.99. Holy Cross Church Picnic

Holy Cross will be having their church picnic this year. Mark your calendars for Labor Day weekend Sunday, Sept. 5. There will be lots of great BBQ, the ladies will have side dishes available and as always lots of great baked goods. An afternoon of music and a live auction are planned.

150th Anniversary

The 150th Anniversary Committee at Holy Cross Lutheran is looking for people who would be willing to be interviewed about the history of Holy Cross and the Warda community for the 150th Anniversary book/ video. Holy Cross Services

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Starting Sunday, June 27 the Bible Class at Holy Cross will be a three-week class on “Doxology: The Encore.”

Sewing Circle

The sewing circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon in the old fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome to join this group. You do not have to be a member of Holy Cross to join them.
