Bailey Family Celebrates Easter in Muldoon
Joe and Carolyn Bailey of East Parker Road enjoyed having their children and grandchildren come in for an Easter weekend visit. Several of the children had been asking questions about the history of the Muldoon area, particularly the rock quarry, since the Bailey’s home was built in 2001 using the Muldoon blue sandstone from the Muldoon quarry.
Joe suggested they visit the Muldoon Museum to learn more about the history of the area, so on Saturday before Easter the group traveled to the Muldoon Museum, five of the group on horseback for the ten mile round trip from the Bailey home.
It was a fun and educational trip, spending about an hour at the Museum before returning home. Touring the museum were Joe and Carolyn Bailey, Ben and Sherri Bailey with Mollie, Matthew, and Micah, Laura and Nathan Crowell and Matt and Caren Bailey with Carson and Parker Bailey.
Muldoon Museum
The Muldoon Museum opened up on Saturday after over a year of being closed due to COVID. The museum opened up following a special request from the Bailey family to check out the Muldoon area history. It was good to see people out and about the museum after the “downtown” area had been so quiet for so long.
The Muldoon Museum houses artifacts from years gone by in the Muldoon community. There is everything from old newspaper articles to plows inside the old Muldoon Courthouse. There are also is a memorial to those men and women who fought for our country hanging on the back wall. It is a treat to see the things used by those who helped settle and make Muldoon. It helps to point out how far we have come.
The museum is working on reopening on the first Saturday of each month. They opened for the Bailey family by special request.
Out and About
Lora and Martin Cherry Jr enjoyed a visit over the Easter weekend from one of Martin’s former students Aaron Treadway and his girlfriend Alyssa Niemendorf of New Braunfels. Aaron is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Darrell and Dana Kulak slipped off one day to visit down in Hungerford. They took the chance to catch up with some old friends.
Nancie Blaire made a trip into Houston last week to have a celebratory lunch with her grandson Kelley for his birthday. He turned twenty-seven. While there she also got to visit with her granddaughter Val and the adorable great grandbaby.
Wild Flowers
It is that time of year and if you have not been out and about the Muldoon area, the wild flowers are out. There are some beautiful pastures as well as the road sides. The back roads seem to have some really beautiful flowers this year, even with the drying conditions the bluebonnets are gorgeous.
