Austin Women Arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Friday night, Oct. 15 at around 11:56 p.m. Deputy Dustin Kieschnick conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Mercedes passenger car for a traffic violation on SH 71 near Krenek Rd.

Deputy Kieschnick detected a strong odor of marijuana as he made contact with the female driver. The driver admitted there was a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by a male passenger.

A search was conducted and a baggie of marijuana, THC gummy bears, and seven grams of Adderall pills were located. Assisting at the traffic stop was Deputies T.J. McCleney and Seth Nagel. The driver, 29-year-old Laura Josephine Flores of Austin admitted the contraband belonged to her.

Flores was arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center where she was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. The male passenger was released with the vehicle.
