Arrest Warrant Issued for Christmas Day Robber

An arrest warrant has been issued for 19-year-old Untorius Carr, whom police say tried robbing a hotel in Schulenburg at gunpoint on Christmas Day.

Schulenburg Police released security camera footage from the America’s Best Value Hotel on Christmas Day which showed the attempted robbery taking place that morning. The suspect was wearing a blue surgical mask. After posting the video on Facebook, Police Chief Troy Brenek said his department received numerous anonymous tips identifying Carr as the gunman. Brenek said the attendant at the hotel confirmed Carr as the suspect through a photo lineup.

Brenek said Carr had gone to school in Schulenburg. He has lived in the Houston area and Eagle Lake recently while also spending time in Schulenburg, Brenek added.

The attempted robbery took place around 8:30 a.m. on Christmas morning. Video shows the suspect pointing a gun at the hotel attendant. Brenek said the attendant yelled, “Police! Police!” while pointing at the door.

“I guess he got scared and decided to run,” Brenek said.

Brenek said he believes Carr has since left Schulenburg. Carr is a black male who stands about 5’6” and weighs approximately 140 lbs. He is wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
