Argument Over Fast Food; Speeding Citations Continue in Schulenburg
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Oct. 24-30.
Disturbance
On Oct. 25, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 40 block of East Ave. for an unruly patient. Upon arrival individual had calmed down.
On Oct. 27, Gindler was dispatched to the 400 block of S. Main for an incident involving a truck and the ownership of the vehicle. Officer advised if complainant wanted to get the truck they would need a court order signed by a judge.
On Oct. 28, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 700 block of N. Kesssler for an individual parked in a reserved spot and refused to move when asked by the staff at Pilot. He moved after the officer asked him to do so.
On Oct. 29, Kalina responded to the 1100 block of James for an individual acting out because mom would not go to Whataburger and he did not get his way. Officer learned he got verbal and physical with mom and dad. No parties wished to pursue charges.
Traffic Stop
On Oct. 24, Gindler issued a warning for individual running a stop sign in the 100 block of College.
On Oct. 24, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Summit for a driver running a red light. Driver admitted to not having insurance and a marijuana roach was seen in the ashtray. Citations were issued.
On Oct. 24, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for a vehicle going 49 in a 30-mile per hour zone. Citation was issued.
On Oct. 24, Parkinson stopped a vehicle on the 800 block of Kessler for a vehicle going 50 mph in a 30 mph. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 25, Sgt. Rusty Roggenkamp observed a black Honda traveling at a high rate of speed in the 100 block of Kessler. The vehicle was going 43 in a 25 in a school zone. He also observed the vehicle disregard the stop sign at East and the frontage road. He stopped the vehicle at the Hitching Post parking lot and made contact with driver. Driver was issued a citation for speeding in a school zone and for disregarding a stop sign.
On Oct.25, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 42 in a 25. A speeding in school zone citation was issued.
On Oct. 25, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for an obscured license plate. The driver was identified and they did not have a driver’s license and a citation was issued.
On Oct. 26, Vincent observed a female subject talking on the phone while driving through the school zone. Officer made a traffic stop and a citation was issued for use of a wireless communication in a school zone.
On Oct. 26, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 26, Vincent initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for driving through a prohibited area in the 100 block of Macaw. Office made contact and subject also failed to maintain financial responsibility. Citation was issued.
On Oct. 27, Meagher stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 100 block of Kessler. Driver was going 41 in a 25. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 27, Meagher stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 100 block of Kessler. Citation was issued.
On Oct. 28, Meagher stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Citation issued.
On Oct. 28, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding. Individual was going 45 in a 25-school zone a citation was issued.
On Oct. 28, Parkinson observed a driver parked and was asleep where there are no parking sign in the 1-10 west frontage mile marker 64 entrance ramp. There was one no parking sign directly in front of him and to the right of him and he clearly ignored the no parking signs. Citation was issued for the violation and also a citation for his expired registration.
On Oct. 28, Parkinson issued a citation to a driver at the intersection of James and Summit for running a stop sign.
On Oct. 28, Parkinson initiated a traffic stop at Main and Kellet after driver did not come to a compete stop at the stop sign before turning. A warning was issued for that violation and a citation was issued for no insurance.
On Oct. 29, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 200 block of Kesssler. A citation was issued for going 35 in a 25.
On Oct. 29, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 200 block of Kessler going 38 in a 25. Citation was issued.
On Oct. 29, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Bucek for speeding. After making contact the driver had six passengers in the vehicle, which is a violation of restriction G on her license. One passenger was with out a seat belt. Driver advised she was not aware that she could not have that many passengers. Citations were issued.
On Oct. 29, Kalina while driving in the 300 block of Summit observed a beer can fall from the back of a vehicle that was stopped. Individual was issued a citation and the beer can was picked up and disposed of properly in a trash can.
On Oct. 29, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for going 50 mph in a 30 mph zone. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 29, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for a vehicle clocked driving 63 mph in a 30 zone. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 29, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 51 in a 30 mph zone. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 30, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 10 block of Kessler for failing to maintain a single lane and almost striking another vehicle. Driver was identified and asked who gave him permission to drive the truck since he was under aged. Driver advised his mother told him he could hang out with his friends and to not get pulled over. Driver was issued a citation for driving without a license and a warning for having more than one passenger a minor.
Animal Complaint
On Oct. 29, Vincent received information about a dog out in the weather and not on a long enough chain in the 300 block of Anderson. Officer met with the owner and the dog had food and water and was not on a chain when Officer spoke to owner.
Civil Matter
On Oct. 26, Officer Duane Meager stood by in the 200 block of Matula while individual swapped compressor and dropped off a generator per a court order.
