Annual Ellinger VFD Feast to be Drive-Thru Only
The Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department is planning its Annual Feast and Fundraiser. It has been scheduled for Sunday, April 25. There will be a BBQ chicken and sausage lunch served with all the trimmings. drive-thru only. Additionally there will be a live auction held outdoors under the pavilion. Currently firemen are selling tickets for the raffle. Contact them early because they usually sell out fast. Posters and other notifications will be forthcoming to inform the public of the changes in this year’s event.
Candidate Forum
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Candidate Forum for all persons running for a City of Ellinger position. Ellinger residents will go to the polls on May 1 to elect a mayor and two commissioners. The last election was to elect interim candidates. Residents will also be voting to approve a one cent sales tax. If residents approve the sales tax, collection of said tax would begin in October of 2021. The forum is scheduled for Thursday, April 15 at 7 p.m. in the dining hall of the Ellinger Community Center. Everyone is invited to hear from the candidates seeking election. They will be discussing various issues and voters can ask question.
Fayetteville Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. COVID-19 protocols will be followed. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.
Shared Lutheran Ministry
The Shared Lutheran Ministry Council (SLM) will have its monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinger. The Congregation of Councils will also meet in Ellinger, but at 6:30 p.m.
SLM Sunday School is scheduled for Sunday, April 11 from 3-5 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville. All K through sixth graders are invited to learn about the Super Hero Apostle Paul. The students will travel with Paul and learn about his journey and his witness to Jesus through cooking, crafts, games, Bible stories, and science experiments.
St. John Lutheran Church of Rutersville will be sponsoring a fundraiser on Saturday, May 8. This will be a chicken fried pork steak dinner.
Ellinger C of C
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce is planning a city wide garage sale in Ellinger on Saturday, April 10 beginning at 7:30 a.m. Call Miranda for more details or go to the www.ellingertexas.com website.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station. All members are welcome to attend.
