Animal Shelter In Need of Volunteers

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations. The shelter is closed to the public with staff onsite for animal care from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Monday. Reclaims are available on Monday after 10 a.m. If you believe your lost pet may be in our care, call (979) 966-0021 to confirm and the requirements for reclaim.

As of Oct. 17, the total intake is 1465: 602 dogs and 863 cats in need. There are 129 animals in care: 43 dogs and 86 cats.

The shelter is looking for more dog walkers, kitten cuddlers, laundry washers, and puppy bathers. You won’t regret volunteering.
