And Then A New Day’s I GROW Program currently has gardening plots at Jack & Mary’s and the Schulenburg Community Garden. It also features container gardening barrels on the corner of our new site.

On March 27, a group of members gathered together to plant a variety of vegetables, herbs, and flowers throughout our flower beds. Members spent the day learning about soil nutrients and how to plant and water the various plants that will be available in the gardens this spring. Members then got to work digging holes, fertilizing, and watering all new plants. Now, these young adults will help water and care for the gardens within their daily schedule while participating in the And Then Day Program.

The I Grow Program focuses on teaching members a valuable life skill. Additionally, all of garden items will eventually go back into products they create to help fund the continuation of this program and other And Then programs.

This event was underwritten by the Turtle Wing Foundation. To learn more about Turtle Wing Foundation, visit www.turtlewingfoundation.org or call 979-505-5090. And Then appreciates Sandy Kusy with A Thousand Words Photography for donating her time and photographs.
