American Legion Quade-Werchan Presents Gift to RT-Carmine Education Foundation

Members of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 of Round Top presented funds to the Round Top-Carmine High School Library, through a gift to the Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation.

Their gift was in memory of the late Glenn Fox, who spent several years as a school volunteer, reading to children at the Elementary campus. A military veteran, Mr. Fox was a longtime member of the post and served as the Commander from 2015-2017.

Their gift of $1,500 will provide new books for students to use for class assignments, as well as their own reading. Students were polled to determine the books that they would enjoy reading, and teachers listed their suggestions for purchase.

While the presentation was being made, members of the Fox family attended through a virtual conference with the teachers, Legion members and Education Foundation members. The teachers were able to tell the Fox family how much this gift will help students. Mrs. Pieper recounted that her son, a graduating Senior, remembered reading with Mr. Fox as a new reader. The legacy of love of reading, fostered by Mr. Fox’s hours with Elementary school readers, will be remembered for years to come.
