Aggravated Robbery in Weimar

Weimar Police arrested a local man for aggravated robbery Thursday morning, Jan. 6. The victim, a 65-year-old woman from Weimar, sustained serious injuries and required hospitalization.

According to a report from Weimar Police Chief Todd Jacobs, the attack happened around 10:25 a.m. at the Gathered Goods store, located at 126 E. Post Office St. in Weimar. Jacobs said the suspect, 44-yearold Corey Bishop of Weimar, entered the story and physically assaulted the woman who was working inside.

Jacobs said Bishop took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and left. Police were notified. Jacobs said officers located Bishop in the 400 block of North Eagle. They arrested Bishop for aggravated robbery and transported him to the Colorado County Jail in Columbus.

Colorado County EMS transported the victim to Columbus Community Hospital.

Bishop remained in jail as of last Friday, Jan. 7. His bond was set at $200,000.
