KC BBQ Turkeys

La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 will be taking pre-orders for barbecue turkeys for Thanksgiving. The turkeys are 14-16 lbs. and cost $50. If possible, please reserve your order before Nov. 16 by calling (979) 968-5117. Pick up is Wednesday, Nov. 24 between 4 to 6 p.m.

Food Basket Drive

St. Mark’s Medical Center is having their annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive benefiting the Family Crisis Center. The baskets will be collected outside the hospital in the drivethrough area in front. Place your items in a covered tub or shopping bag this year to allow for easier transport by the crisis center team. Gift cards of $20 is recommended but leave the gift card out of the basket. The cards are used to purchase the turkeys and if money is left over to purchase dessert. Xmas Open House

Join the La Grange Visitors Center on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 4-6 p.m. for their Christmas Open House at the Historic Casino Hall. There will be sweet treats, children’s activities, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. This event is free and open to the public. The Historic Casino Hall is located at 254 N. FC Republican Women Meeting

The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Nov. 18 at La Grange City Hall Council Chambers, 155 E. Colorado, in La Grange. Social time starts at 6 p.m. with the business meeting at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Melissa Conway, the new Texas Election Integrity State Director. Bringing over 25 years of grassroots leadership experience in numerous political activities, she is among the first to lead this national GOP initiative and will describe the function and duties of her new role. RT Hermann Sons Life Meeting

This month’s meeting of the Round Top Hermann Sons Life Lodge No. 151 will be held on Thursday, Nov. 18 at the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post at Round Top beginning at 6 p.m. with a social. La Grange Garden Club

The La Grange Garden Club will meet at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18. This month’s program will feature Bruce Ford of the Fayette County Beekeepers Association who will provide information on beekeeping and the importance of bees in gardens and surrounding landscape. Central Texas Food Bank

The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at Junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. Health safety guidelines require volunteers to wear facemasks and to social distance. Clients are urged to wear facemasks while in the drive-thru.

The Bartered Bride Opera in Praha

St. Mary’s Church in Praha will be hosting a performance of Bedrich Smetana’s opera The Bartered Bride, in a Road Tour, that is making its way to several Texas cities courtesy of the University of North Texas (UNT) and the Czech Educational Foundation of Texas (CEFT). The event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. under the Pavilion adjacent to the church. There is no charge. A good will offering will be accepted. Attendees are asked to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy prior to the performance. Seating will be available, or attendees may bring their own lawn chairs. Following the performance there will be a recitation of the Rosary at 4 p.m. in the Church followed by Holy Mass at 4:30 p.m. The UNT performers in the touring group are being led by Dr. Thomas Sovik.

Texas Czech Communities

Echoes of the Homeland, Winedale’s next online talk, will be Saturday, Nov. 20 at noon. Thadious Polasek, Blinn College instructor and the director of the Schulenberg Public Library, will discuss the Czech communities of Fayetteville/Ross Prarie, Elinger, Vsetin, and Bila Hora. Community Thanksgiving Service

The La Grange Area Ministerial Alliance invites everyone to the Community Thanksgiving Service to be held on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Casino Hall. Canned goods will be collected for AMEN Food Pantry and a collection will be taken for the Good Shepherd Fund. Join for worship, prayer, and thanksgiving.

Surviving The Holidays

Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings is sponsoring the twohour Surviving the Holidays event for anyone grieving the death of a loved one. The event will be held on Sunday, Nov. 21 from 2-4 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Call (512) 461-5442 for information or to register.

Celebrate & Dance In Praha

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the City Polka Boys Band and Benny Okruhlik, the only member of the original group still active, on Sunday, Nov. 21 at the St. Mary’s Hall in Praha. There will be a free dance from 1 to 5 p.m. Snacks and refreshments will be provided while they last.

Fried Chicken Dinner

The Holy Cross Couple’s Club will have their annual fried chicken dinner on Sunday, Nov. 21. The event is drive-thru only at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds in Warda from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tickets are $12 each and are available at La Grange Chevron or the Holy Cross Church office. Pre-sale tickets only. Deadline for tickets is Monday, Nov. 15.

CDA No. 1962 Meeting

CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange will be meeting on Monday, Nov. 22 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewcz Center in La Grange at 7 p.m. The court will be accepting donations for the Seafarers. Members are encouraged to attend and potential new members are always welcomed.

Soundproof Dance In Ellinger

Party like a rockstar at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Soundproof Dance Saturday, Nov. 20 from 7-10 p.m. at 104 Colorado Sky in Ellinger. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Entry is a bag of groceries for the AMEN Food Pantry or pay $10. This event is sponsored by Ellinger Chamber of Commerce.

RT Lion’s Club Turkey Trot

The 5th annual Round Top Lion’s Club Turkey Trot will be held Thursday, Nov. 25 at 8 a.m. at Henkel Square Market in Round Top. Participants can choose a timed 10K, 5K or a One-Mile Fun Run to burn those calories before eating Thanksgiving dinner. Ledbetter Lane of Lights

The annual Ledbetter Lane of Lights begins Thanksgiving weekend and runs until Christmas Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-9 p.m. at FM 1291 and Hwy. 290 in downtown Ledbetter. All proceeds of this event go to the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department.

Loss of A Child Support Group

A support and education group for a parent or grandparent who is grieving the loss of a child at any age or any stage of the grieving process will be held the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Hospice Brazos Valley located at 1048 N. Jefferson in La Grange. This month it will be held on Nov. 30 due to the regular meeting date is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. For more information contact, Cindy Fanning at (979) 968-6913. Feed The Need

Feed the Need will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the new location on the east and south side of the square. Everyone is welcome.

Vietnam Veterans Meeting

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
