$60,000 in Cash is Found Stuffed Inside Crock Pot

Schulenburg Police assisted federal agents with a money laundering arrest on Saturday, Feb. 6.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reported that federal law enforcement officials informed his department about a vehicle possibly transporting a load of laundered money through Schulenburg. Brenek said the money was suspected to be illegal proceeds from drug sales and human trafficking.

Schulenburg Police Officer Hailee Vincent spotted a vehicle on Interstate 10 that matched the description provided by the federal authorities. Vincent stopped the vehicle for having an unreadable license plate, Brenek said.

A male and a female occupied the vehicle, Brenek said. Vincent conducted a search and located $60,000 in cash. The money was stuffed inside a crock pot, Brenek said.

Schulenburg Police contacted the federal agents, who arrived in Schulenburg and arrested the male and female suspect. The federal agents also seized the money.

Brenek said his department was not authorized to release the names of the suspects or the federal law enforcement agency that handled the case due to the ongoing investigation.
