2021 Round Top Family Library Annual Chili Cook-Off Canceled

Due to COVID enforcement by the County and State of Texas and in consideration of the safety of our community, the Round Top Family Library has canceled its annual chili cook-off for 2021. This would have been the 17th year for this fun community event. The tradition will continue in 2022 in a big way.

This annual event raises income needed to keep the library operations running for a year. The library normally raises at least $25,000 from the chili cook-off, which is a significant portion of their annual budget. Their hope is that you will consider supporting the library even though there will be no chili cook-off this year. Any amount you can contribute would help us to cover this shortfall. Donations can be made online at www.ilovetoread.org or by mail.

Due to COVID restrictions, 2020 looked quite different for the little library. The library altered its operations and programs to accommodate requirements, while trying to keep patrons and the community involved. As the vaccine becomes more available, the library is looking towards reopening with regular hours and regular programming beginning the first of June. The library feels that by June patrons and children will have a safe environment and can enjoy the library in person once again. The library has big plans for the children’s summer programs (SEE) in June and July with science fun, art, gardening, stories, professional entertainers, snacks, and of course, popcorn Thursday.

The 17th Annual Round Top Family Library Chili Cook-off will be back Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022.
