Concern For Our Country

To the editor: I remember the truck drivers telling how they delivered pallets of ballots during the dark of night across state lines. I remember poll watchers saying they were stationed too far from the counting to see.

No Quality Candidates

To the editor: I used to enjoy the Opinion Section of The Fayette County Record, but as of late it has become one more source of contention between the two major candidates. Each article goes to great length to describe the opposing candidate as an evil that will pass over this great country if elected.

America is Sinking Fast

To the editor: I woke up and as I had my morning coffee, I realized that everything is about to change. No matter how I vote, no matter what I say, something evil has invaded our nation, and our lives are never going to be the same.

Kamala Harris and Grocery Prices

To the editor: This is part 1 on Kamala Harris’s promises to reduce grocery prices. Part 2 will address Donald Trump’s promise to increase tariffs even further (next week).

Getting the Full Story

To the editor: I was researching and putting together thoughts for a Letter to the Editor entitled “Corporate Media Dishonesty.” The research was mind boggling. I asked my wife to proofread my draft.

Everybody Loves Raymond – Except Dad!

In 1947 I was 4 years old. My dad had two cotton patches at that time. One patch was about 35 acres in the post oaks and another one about 45 acres lower down in “the bottom.” The patch in the post oak area ran alongside a country road which is now Munke Road. On the other side of this road were about 8 or 10 houses full of families each with a lot of kids to each family. One of the houses belonged to a family by the name of S.T. Slack. He had four daughters and four sons, all of cotton-picking age. When dad needed cotton pickers all they had to do was to cross the fence and they were ready to pick cotton for us.

I Never Thought of It That Way

Before starting my current adventure as the pastor of the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County, I had the great joy of serving as the pastor for Lutherhill Ministries. Lutherhill is a camp and retreat center just north of La Grange. Every summer, happy campers come to the Hill for a week of faith and fun in the great outdoors. Every summer, we select a theme to guide times of study, worship and prayer.
