Horizontal Drilling

To the Editor:

The author of a recent Letter to the Editor would have us believe “Thanks to the leadership of President Biden oil production in America is at its highest level in history.” Actually oil production in America has increased in spite of Biden’s policies not because of them. Biden campaigned on putting the oil companies out of business. His administration did what it could to implement that policy by reducing lease sales and slowing permitting on federal lands. The increase in oil production was due to horizontal drilling in old reservoirs on private lands. Thanks to our Constitution the federal government had no control over this production. Some of you in Fayette County may have seen the benefits of horizontal drilling in your royalty checks.
