To the Editor: Those elected in the county are county servants, not county leaders. Just as a boss in a business is master over his hired employees, we are master over those we hire by election to serve.

To the Editor: Judge Joe Weber’s comments in the 1/12/2021 FCR were contentious, at best. He chose to paint the various protests as ‘left’ versus ‘right’ rather than examining the underlying causations.

To the Editor: In the middle of 2020’s political divisions, with a critically important national vote looming and isolated by COVID-19, there was a miracle going on in Round Top. I had been diagnosed with prostate cancer after three years of being clear.

The people of Big Spring mourned the passing on Jan. 13, 1885 of the English earl who had been their boozy benefactor for the past year and a half.

In the January/February edition of Texas Parks & Wildlife, there was an article about Dubina and the Dubina church. I would like to make a few corrections to this article.

The 87th session of the Texas Legislature opened Tuesday with COVID-19 encompassing every aspect of what the lawmakers do, according to new House Speaker Dade Phelan. “COVID, obviously, it will be a blanket over the entire session,” Phelan told his hometown TV station, KFDM Channel 6, in Beaumont.

What if instead of worrying about things beyond our control, we • just worked hard every day? • made a point of smiling whenever possible? • tried to find the positive in every situation? I have seen what happens when those aspirations are fulfilled – and it is wonderful to see. I know because I had the pleasure of interviewing Tommy Taylor on one of his last days before his recent retirement after 41 years of working in the maintenance department at La Grange ISD.

To the Editor: This week, the Texas Legislature begins its 87th session, and not a moment too soon. Texans are still dying from the COVID-19 pandemic.

To the Editor: In 1877 allegations of fraud and illegal conduct in the election processes were raised in three states – Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina. In 1877, Congress did not ignore those allegations, nor did the media simply dismiss those raising them as radicals trying to undermine democracy.
