My question of the day: When do you quit having jobs, especially unpleasant ones? At my ripe age I figured I was through with jobs, having only aspirations to sit, drink iced tea, write when I feel like it, walk the dogs, take naps. You know, doing things you do because you want to.

Luckily this past weekend I got a chance to go this year to the 147th Kentucky Derby with my friends Madison and Kara.

To the Editor: A letter-writer in last week’s edition of The Fayette County Record asked several questions of people who voted for President Joe Biden. Since I am such a voter, I thought I would offer a few answers and other observations.

We Democrats, Independents, and many common-sense Republicans endured 4 years of the worst president in history and an attempted insurrection of the federal government on 06-Jan after many on the political right accepted the lies they were told.

To the Editor: As a fairly new resident of La Grange and Fayette County, I’ve already seen here in seven months what seem like both the worst of times and the best of times. And through it all — a pandemic, mass vaccination events, a weather and utility emergency, and a community that helps its own, I believe we have a lot to be thankful.

I’m writing this on Wednesday, April 28, and we could surely use some rain. I’m almost out of the rainwater I collect.
