Many Approve of the Job Biden is Doing
To the Editor:
In response to MM Brown’s Letter last week:
Elections have consequences. We Democrats, Independents, and many common-sense Republicans endured 4 years of the worst president in history and an attempted insurrection of the federal government on 06-Jan after many on the political right accepted the lies they were told.
You don’t like Biden and/or what he’s been able to accomplish in his first 100 days, but you are in the minority with your opinion. Seems that, according to a Gallup poll released last week, 57% of Americans approve of the job Biden is doing. This represents a 16 point improvement over Trump, who never saw an approval rating above 49%, at the same point in his presidency.
Biden and his presidency is about more than flag hugging, dog-n-pony shows, grand-standing, and rhetoric. It’s about fixing the trash left to him, finding an end to this pandemic and a return to a semblance of normal, a return of responsible governing, accountability, fairness, equality, and doing the RIGHT thing. He was elected to do a job, and his first 100 days illustrate he’s up to the challenge and delivering for America. His administration is about governing not pleasing a cult-like following with rhetoric alone. It’s nice to have an adult leading again. 2022 and 2024 may come with another change in direction, but until then he, with Congressional support, is doing the job he (and they) were elected to do.
On a related note, maybe your opinion is shaped more by your bias than by facts. Let’s put the unsupported partisan rhetoric aside and recognize that despite one’s personal feelings, facts matter and opinions are far from facts.
