Can Anyone Explain?

To the Editor: This letter is not about all the street violence, murders and outright daylight theft taking place in American cities. The violence where innocent, beautiful little children, mostly those of color, are being shot and killed, some only three years old, or even babies.

To the Editor: I want to address the FC Democratic Party’s political ad which appeared in the July 23 edition of this paper. FCDP praised the Texas Democrat Legislators who fled the state, walking out on their responsibilities as elected officials and preventing the Texas House from passing any bills in the July special session.

To the Editor: To the Democratic Party of Fayette County – Saw your ad in the Record last week thanking Democrats for protecting our freedom to vote. I’m guessing you’re referring to the Democrats who ignored their duty to their constituents for a boondoggle to Washington, taking a charter jet, earning a pretty penny per diem, and then having the nerve to say they were “suffering” and “so brave.” Please.

Absent Lawmakers Stymie Special Session

Nearly 60 Texas House Democrats left the state last Monday for Washington, D.C. in an effort to stop passage of a Republican-led elections bill. This in effect blocks all legislation since the House doesn’t have a quorum present. As the Austin American Statesman and other media outlets reported, Gov. Greg Abbott has threatened to arrest the absent lawmakers upon their return. While in Washington, the legislators have met with Vice President Kamala Harris and several Democratic senators to push passage of a federal elections bill that is currently stalemated.
