No Praise for Dems
To the Editor:
I want to address the FC Democratic Party’s political ad which appeared in the July 23 edition of this paper. FCDP praised the Texas Democrat Legislators who fled the state, walking out on their responsibilities as elected officials and preventing the Texas House from passing any bills in the July special session. Those House Representatives, instead of participating in meaningful debate on the many issues which needed to be addressed, chose to fly to Washington DC on private jets (without masks), spend thousands of dollars on fancy hotels and meals, and hob-knob with the so-called “political elite.” They supposedly did this to “protect our freedoms to vote.”
Either they have not actually read Texas SB1 and are willfully ignorant, or they are deliberately misrepresenting what is in the bill. I have read through the entire bill and there is nothing in it that prevents or hampers a legitimate voter from voting. In fact, SB1 makes our votes more secure. Among other things, SB1 seeks to prevent ballot manipulation, voter coercion, ballot harvesting, and unlawful changes in voting times and locations. It creates uniform, statewide voting hours; it strengthens verification of mail-in ballots; it expands hours for early voting; it increases security by ensuring that no election machine is connected to the internet. I challenge everyone to read the bill before accepting the Democrat narrative that it “disenfranchises” voters or interferes with their ability to vote. Here is the link to the bill: capitol.texas.gov/BillLookup/History.aspx?LegSess=871&Bill=SB1. (Select the PDF: Bill Analysis.)
With their ad, FCDP has proven they agree with Speaker Pelosi and her strictly partisan political agenda. Over the past five years, the Democrats have had no intention of passing, or even discussing, any bi-partisan legislation. The Democrats have clearly proven that they would rather destroy American families, our economy, and our Constitutional Republic, rather than compromise in the slightest concerning their radical agendas. The people of Cuba understand how precious and unique American freedoms are. Why can’t the Democrats?
