The streak continued this past Tuesday as the Schulenburg High School band competed at the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading contest in Bastrop. The band made a 1st division (superior rating) in both the concert and sight-reading portion of the contest for the third year in a row (this is the highest rating possible.) For the concert portion of the contest the band prepares three pieces. Two pieces must be listed on the UIL music list, and the third piece must be a march.
La Grange senior baseball player Kadyn Hall tossed a 7-3 outing for the Leopards first win of the season in a recent matchup against Cuero High School. Hall is also a catcher on the team, which demands a heavy workload and a high baseball IQ on the diamond. “He’s the heart of our team,” said La Grange head baseball coach Robert Barber. “He means so much to us. Not just his leadership role, but the way he handles our pitching staff behind the plate.
At first glance, my personal “Autograph Guitar” resembles the famous guitar belonging to Texas’most famous singer, Willie Nelson. Willie Nelson named his guitar “Trigger,” but I have no name for mine. And I assure you, mine is worth millions of dollars less than his. But I would think that both guitars share a few of the same names.
I have been slowly acquiring the autographs on this old Martin 000-18 guitar since the mid to late 1980’s.
Judy Elias Hill “Here & There,” a special showing of new and older works showcasing the artist’s love of painting her environment.
