Others cooked a pot of stew and chili. Later pork chops, chicken fried steak, potatoes, sauerkraut, and hamburgers were served. Condiments such as pickled hard-boiled eggs and pickled pig’s feet were also available from gallon jars which were on the counter. Pretzels and ice cream could be purchased at beer joints too.
It was noted that there were several saloons in Carmine in 1912 and that they served lunch, but a menu was not listed. These included The City Saloon, with Charles Ullrich as proprietor; Santa Fe Saloon, R. C. Zwernemann, prop.; Bismarck Saloon, Otto Menn, prop.; and The Lone Star Saloon, W. H. Stuermer, prop.
