The Remnant Church had a wonderful time celebrating its 4th of July Church and Community Party. Attendees enjoyed free hot dogs, watermelon and sno-cones. The kids kept cool with a waterslide, splash pad and dunking booth. All ages had fun competing in the watermelon seed spittin’, jump rope, and 3-legged race contests. At dark, an amazing fireworks display ended the party with a bang.

On June 20, the Flatonia-Cistern Chapter of the Fayette County Farm Bureau held its quarterly meeting. Jo Brunner, Vice-President of the Flatonia-Cistern Local, introduced the guest speaker.

The shelter currently has 2 young male huskies, Hercules (left) and Levi (right). Their breed may be the same, but their individual characters make them a one-of-a-kind.

The Blinn College District’s newest Vocational Nursing Program graduates were honored at a pinning ceremony Thursday. Thirty-two students who completed the traditional faceto- face program received their pins in a ceremony held at the Dr.

La Grange Rotarians last week installed Kyle Hartmann as club president for 2023-24. Mike Coppinger has been president this past year, during which the club has contributed more than $35,000 to various charitable efforts, including $12,000 in scholarships to La Grange High School graduates.

One half of the year has passed and as of June 30, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 845: 418 dogs and 427 cats in need.

Round Top Brewing also hosts a musician on the porch most Saturdays and Sundays.
