One half of the year has passed and as of June 30, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 845: 418 dogs and 427 cats in need.

As of June 30, the shelter has 107 animals in care: 65 dogs/42 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Spay and neuter is the only way to manage the stray, unwanted dog and cat population in Fayette County. The shelter offers a discount voucher program to the citizens of Fayette County for the spay/neuter of family pets. Call (979) 9660021 for more information.
