WACA Announces Light the Night Contest Winners

The annual “Light the Night” outdoor decorating contest was held again with judging being this last week. Winners were announced and prizes awarded at a social held at Zilss Hall this past Sunday evening. First prize went to the Tracy and Karen Robbins family, second to Britt and Sherry Karisch and third place to Elizabeth Kipp.

Crainer Competes in Jr. Steer Wrestling World Championship

Muldoon was well represented in Las Vegas for the rodeo this year. Patti Holly’s grandson, Trevor Crainer competed in the Ote Berry Junior Steer Wrestling World Championship. Trevor stayed solid on his runs throughout the week. It was his solid runs that helped him win the Will Byler Memorial Buckle for his 4.0 run on Round 2 for the week. It was a very exciting time for the whole family, most of whom, including Patti, were there for the events.

Rick And Wendy Haley Recognized For American Flag Display in Columbus

The John Everett Chapter, DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), and Robert Rankin No. 62 SAR (Sons of the American Revolution) recognized Rick and Wendy Haley for their American Flag display for the month of December 2023. It is located at 207 McCormick Street in Columbus. Rick said that they are proud American Patriots and love our Country. Rick is a US Army Veteran who served in Iraq during Desert Storm and did a tour in Korea. Rick was a Forward Observer (FO).

Flatonia Boys Split a Pair of Matches Before Christmas Break

The Flatonia boys basketball lost a close district game in overtime 63-66 at Ganado on Dec. 19. The loss dropped their district record to 1-1. The next day they beat Dime Box at home in non-district contest 54-48, bringing their overall record to 10-7 on the season.

The Bulldogs return to action this Thursday in the Mumford Cotton Christmas Classic basketball tournament.
