Twenty-two Colorado Valley Quilt Guild members had a wonderful time trying something new with the Guild’s Quilt of Valor Project. Scraps of Patriotic material were cut into various lengths and widths and each Member was asked to make 8 1/2” or 9 1/2” blocks using a Log Cabin design. Debbi Gabler and Jo Anne Hill guided us through the steps and a beautiful QOV quilt was pieced.

Friends. Who are they? Why do I want them? What is my role in maintaining and keeping them? I’ve been fortunate to have friends, individuals who freely added stability, energy and honesty to my life.

The Couples Club at Holy Cross Lutheran will have their annual BBQ Chickens on Mothers Day, May 12. Chickens are $12 each and cups of sauce are $3.

You might be a poet! Don’t laugh… In celebration of National Poetry Night, the Friends of the Weimar Public Library will present its 3rd Annual Open Mic Poetry Night at 6:30 p.m. on April 25 at the City Gazebo, and they would love to celebrate you.

The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Lunch-N-Learn educational program is a series of 9 informational meetings designed to provide gardening or general landscaping information for homeowners. Fayette County Master Gardeners plan and present a variety of programs from experts in the area and across the state. This series is designed with the homeowner in mind; bring your lunch and learn about a variety of topics that help you have a more productive garden, prettier flower beds, or how to better understand your landscape ecosystems.

AMEN continued to be busy in the month of March. 358 families were served for the month for a total of 1,073 individuals. A total of 173 volunteers for 608 hours served the pantry. A total of 3,445 pounds of food were donated.

In the first quarter, the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter has taken in 59 puppies and 50 kittens under the age of three months. As of March 29, total intake for the shelter is 350: 193 dogs and 157 cats in need.
