The Scarecrow Fun Run is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 with an 8:30 a.m. start time. Early registration is Aug. 15 and will include a limited edition T-shirt. Start planning to participate in the fall fun run with the whole family. Scarecrows will be along the route and you can come dressed in a scarecrow costume and compete in the “Best” scarecrow costume contest. All proceeds from the Run/Walk will benefit the Winchester Area Civic Association’s Scholarship Fund.

The bridge on FM 154 south of Muldoon is still under construction. In a recent experiment, it was found that FM 609 is way faster way into Flatonia or back home than the backroads are from Muldoon, which was an interesting find. If you do travel the backroads, please slow down and move way over when meeting oncoming traffic. The county roads are not made for fast traffic and the bridge on Old Smithville is also still under construction as well.

Church News 

The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction of FM 1291 and FM 2145 on Saturday, July 20 from 10-11 a.m. The food will be distributed Drive-Thru method. Volunteers will distribute and load the pre-boxed food into each vehicle as the client drives through the line.

Clients should clean out their back seats, trunks and truck beds to make room for the boxed food.
