Bridge Still Under Construction in Muldoon
The bridge on FM 154 south of Muldoon is still under construction. In a recent experiment, it was found that FM 609 is way faster way into Flatonia or back home than the backroads are from Muldoon, which was an interesting find. If you do travel the backroads, please slow down and move way over when meeting oncoming traffic. The county roads are not made for fast traffic and the bridge on Old Smithville is also still under construction as well.
Church News
The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church recently hosted Bruce and Shara Repka, who have a music ministry called the Pony Express Ministry. They travel with their two horses, Rocky and Nocona and this unique ministry team made a stop in at the SG2C on Sunday, June 30. It was a great service that was enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
Local youth ages 13-18 years old are invited to come out on Wednesday nights to join in the ROPE services. The evening begins a 6 p.m. with a meal and then leads on into some great life enhancing Bible study. It’s a great way to connect with other Christian youth and learn more about the Bible.
SG2C invites everyone in the community to come out and check what is going on at the fast-growing church. Fellowship of coffee and doughnuts begins at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday morning with the worship service starting at 10 a.m. Come out meet some neighbors and enjoy some good solid Christian fellowship. Maybe even make a few new friends in the process.
It’s Hot!
Weather in Muldoon has been hot and dry for the last week of June and the very first part of July. Temperatures hit the high nineties pushing hard on one hundred and the high humidity it has been brutal if you needed to work out in it. With the prospects of a hurricane brewing in the Gulf of Mexico there is hope for rain in the near future.
If you have to be out and about keep hydrated and take frequent breaks. Stay as much as you can in the shade that is a number of degrees cooler. Do not overexert yourself and stay as cool as you can during the heat of the day.
Out and About
John and Debra Schwartzenburg traveled recently to head east to Louisiana to visit with John’s Uncle Ralph Scwartzenburg. Adding to the family fun, cousin Deanna Long came to spend the weekend with her dad and everyone got to have a wonderful visit. Uncle Ralph took the time to show Debra how the family canned their wonderful figs. This meant they were treated to bringing home some of that sweet treasure. Before heading back to Texas, John and Debra took Uncle Ralph to church and just enjoy a little bit more quality time together.
A surprise visit from granddaughter Keylee Brasel made for a great weekend for Ron and Pam Knotts recently. Keylee drove in from Conway, Arkansas to spend a few days catching up with family and friends. Accompanied by her dog Denver she rolled in on Friday evening with lots of stories to tell. On Saturday they ran errands, had lunch at Kloesel’s and stopped by the Luling market for a watermelon. The craft tents were still open from the Watermelon Thump, so some shopping was in order. The whole weekend was fun and a great time to reconnect.
On a recent Sunday, James and Joan Ivy traveled to Austin to see their grandson Ira Ivy and his mom Jenny Clair. It was a great afternoon of playing with Ira while James helped Jenny with some of her college homework.
Bobby Ivy went to Uvalde to enjoy a few days’ vacation with some friends. They enjoyed movies, doing a little ranch work and swimming among other things. It was just a fun time away.
