RTC Cubs Win McDade Tournament

The Round Top-Carmine boys basketball team went 3-0 in the McDade tournament over the weekend to win first place. Kannyn Goehring was Tournament MVP. Hunter Schobel made the All-Tournament Team. Here’s the individual game results:

Sodek Grabs Career Win No. 500 as His Bulldogs Stay Undefeated

It was quite the home tournament for the Flatonia boys basketball team as the Bulldogs won all six games they played to grab the tourney title and improve to 12-0 this season. Additionally, head coach Chris Sodek won his 500th career game during the tourney. The Bulldogs put their undefeated record in the line Tuesday at home at 7:30 pm. against Iola.

Schulenburh High School volleyball star Meredith Magliolo was selected to the 2023 Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All Star Volleyball Game.TheAll Star game will be held during the TGCA Convention in Arlington on July 10-13.

Flatonia freshman basketball player Summer Sodek came into high school ball on a mission as she’s already been in double figures for scoring a handful of times to start the season, also leading her team to a tournament title in Fayetteville this past weekend.

Sibling School Records Highlight Big Meet for LG Swimming

Eleven swimmers from the La Grange High School swim team participated in the 4A TISCA North Texas Invite in Grapevine Texas on December 2 & 3. During this two day meet the LHS swimmers accomplished many goals. The LHS swim team had 9 swimmers in the A finlas and 9 swimmers in the B finals on Saturday. Twelve swimmers improved their times from Friday’s prelims to Saturday finals. A brother and sister duo smashed school records. LHS had nine top ten finishes in the meet. Six swimmers set personal best times at this meet. The LHS women came in fifth place overall out of 12 teams with only 6 swimmers participating in the meet The men swimmers came in ninth place overall out of 14 teams with only five LG swimmers participating in the meet.

Catching Up With Local Athletes at the College Level

Cross country standout Montserrat De Santiago is an All-American. The La Grange High School graduate placed 37th among 326 finishers in the NAIA National Championship 5K to earn the honor, given to the top 40.
