La Grange native J.K. Dobbins has been named a finalist for the Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year Award in the NFL.

What a week it was for the La Grange girls basketball team. Wednesday they went to Smithville and handed the first place Lady Tigers their first district loss.

La Grange has now played everyone once in district basketball and nobody’s been able to knock the defending district champs off their throne. The Leps beat Bellville 68-41 at home Friday to improve to 19-8 overall but more importantly 5-0 in district.

Three weeks after losing to Smithville by one point the La Grange Lady Leps got revenge on the road Wednesday night. The La Grange girls beat the first place Lady Tigers 61-48, led by a 15-point night from Landri Hernandez and 14 from Campbell Cooper.

The Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) Winter Games of Texas celebrated its 100th anniversary with a spectacular swimming championship held Jan. 18-19, at the Victoria ISD Aquatic Center in Victoria, Texas. With over 550 athletes competing in more than 700 events, the competition showcased some of the state’s top amateur swimming talent.

The La Grange boys soccer team defeated Cameron Friday 5-3 to grab their first district soccer wins. Xavier Ortiz scored three goals, and Jeffrey Cabrera and Aaron Torres each scored one.

In a game that had all the intensity of a playoff matchup, the Round Top-Carmine girls beat Fayetteville Friday 3426. The victory for the Cubettes all but assures they will win the District 29-1A title with two weeks left in the regular season.

The Schulenburg Lady Horns basketball team will be hosting two very special guests on “Double J” Night while the Lady Horns will be playing a key Dist. 28-2A game with Ganado, in a game where a playoff berth will be on the line.
