There was a lot of silver for the La Grange golfers at their home tournament last week at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club. The Lep boys and girls both placed second in the team races, and La Grange’s Braxton Dahse and Ella Pineda both were second individually.

Two Fayette County boys basketball teams are headed to the regional quarterfinal round of the playoffs after impressive victories Friday. The #14-ranked Fayetteville Lions traveled to Kenedy where they knocked off #10-ranked San Perlita 71-53.

Leopard Relays La Grange will host the Leopard Relays High School track meet this Thursday March 2. Field events begin at 3:45 p.m.; Running begins around 5:30.

Several local high schools competed at the Weimar track meet last Thursday. Giddings won both varsity team titles and La Grange was second in both divisions.

The Schulenburg boys basketball team’s season came to an end Monday in Brenham as the Shorthorns lost to Hearne 50-39 in the first round of the 2A playoffs. Kaz McBride led the Shorthorns in scoring with 12 points.

The Fayetteville boys basketball team keeps doing things that haven’t been done in a long time. Earlier this month they won the program’s first outright district title since 1999.

La Grange’s reward for putting together a great regular season and winning the first district boys basketball title in a decade? A matchup against Texas High School basketball royalty in the first round of the playoffs. The Leps faced Houston Yates (which has won nine state basketball titles) Monday in Katy and La Grange lost 78-62.
