• The La Grange softball team went to Caldwell Tuesday and lost to the Lady Hornets 11-1. The loss drops La Grange’s record to 2-2 in district play.

LG Girls Win District Golf Title; Boys are Runner-Ups

The La Grange girls won the district golf title after two days of play at Colo Vista in Bastrop, while the Lep boys golfers grabbed second. On the girls side, La Grange shot a two-day 830 to beat out runner-up Caldwell by 29 strokes.

Fayette Co. Athletes Shine At Fayetteville’s Track Meet

Here are the results from Fayetteville’s varsity track meet last week. The Fayetteville boys won the team title with 178.5 points over second place Burton (which had 126.5.) On the girls side, Shiner St.

Leps Win Team Titles at Flatonia Meet

La Grange won both varsity divisions of the Flatonia Bulldog InvitationalTrack Meet Wednesday. The La Grange girls had 196 points and Columbus was second with 176.

Accolades Keep Rolling in For Diggs

In the aftermath of his pair of indoor national track titles (in the 60 meters and the 200 meters) two weeks ago, La Grange track standout Austen Diggs was selected as this week’s Athlete of the Week by Austin television KVUE, which aired a feature about Diggs on Sunday. LG Tennis Medals in Navasota

The La Grange varsity tennis team compete at the Navasota tournament last week. The Mixed Doubles team of Campbell Youens and Corbin Supak (above) placed 1st. In Boys Singles La Grange’s Oliver Wright (right) was the Consolation Bracket Winner. Next up: Varsity district meet on March 29-30 in Caldwell.

Flatonia’s Taden Alvarado Wins State Powerlifting Title

Flatonia’s Tadan Alvarado, above, left, set state records Saturday in squat (800 pounds) and total (1,775 pounds) to win the 2A state championship in the Super Heavy Weight Class at the state powerlifting meet in Abilene. .

Leps Soccer Teams Both Fall in Playoff Openers

Both La Grange soccer teams saw their seasons come to an end last week in the first round of the 4A playoffs. The La Grange boys lost Thursday on penalty kicks (5-4) after their game with Lorena was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation.

LG Baseball Impressive in District Opener

The La Grange baseball team got off to a strong start to district play with a 11-1 win at Giddings Friday. Senior pitcher Trenton Barnes (a Galveston College commit) hurled six innings of two-hit ball with 12 strikeouts.

Lady Leps Win Big

Coming off a heartbreaking 10-9 last inning loss to Smithville Tuesday, the La Grange softball team needed to turn things around in a big way. They did so Friday as a freshman pitcher and rejuvenated bats powered the Lady Leps to a 12-2 home win over Taylor.
