Leps Beat Gonzales on Little League Night

Wednesday La Grange Little Leaguers got to take the field before the game with the varsity Leps players for the National Anthem on Little League Night. Then the Leps put on a good performance for the young fans, beating Gonzales 6-1 in the final non-district tune-up before district play. La Grange plays at Giddings at 7 p.m. Friday in the District 22-4A opener.

Three Flatonia Athletes Headed to State Powerlifting

Three Flatonia High School powerlifters have qualified for state after placing at the regional meet last week. Tadan Alvarado won the super heavy weight class with a 750 pound squat (a regional record), a 425 pound bench (a regional record) and a 480 pound dead lift.

Flatonia Drops Pair Of District Ballgames

The Flatonia Lady Dog softball team dropped two district ballgames over Spring Break last week. Last Tuesday, Schulenburg came to town and defeated Flatonia 11-3.Then on Thursday, the Lady Dogs traveled to Ganado and lost 9-2.

RTC Baseball Starts Season With Big Win

The Round Top-Carmine baseball team began its season with a 13-1 win over Granger on March 10 with Jacob Polasek leading the way by going 4-for-4 with two singles, two doubles, three RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases. Also having multi-hit games for the Cubs were Hunter Schobel, Kannyn Goehring, Tanner Schobel, and Brayden Dallmeyer. Rolando Soto drove in three runs. Goehring also pitched six innings of one-run ball, and Tanner Schobel pitched a scoreless inning.

It’s Soccer Playoff Time for Veteran LG Teams

It’s playoff time for La Grange soccer and this week is an especially do-or-die time for the Leps and Lady Leps. That’s because both squads are very senior-heavy with 10 seniors on the La Grange girls teams and 11 on the La Grange boys team.

Lady Leps Fall in Softball

The La Grange girls softball lost to Smithville on the road Tuesday 10-9. The Lady Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to get the win after La Grange had rallied to take a lead in the top of the seventh.

Schulenburg’s Vacek Powers His Way to State

Schulenburg powerlifter Jacob Vacek has pure strength and recently utilized it by qualifying for the state powerlifting meet. Vacek is in the 165 weight class and lifted 290 pounds on the bench press, 420 on the squat, and 500 on the deadlift for a 1,210 total and a tie for first place in the regional meet.
