For the third consecutive season, the Fayetteville Lions baseball team is headed back to the 1A state title game. The Lions (18-4) will face Gordon (23-5) at 9 a.m.

The Fayetteville baseball team has surged to the state semifinals led by one of their largest group of senior ballplayers ever. A whopping six Lion seniors (Easton Jaeger, Lawson Fritsch, Kellen Lopez, Chance Konvicka, Brody Dooley and Jack Winford) have all played key roles for Fayetteville as it has built a 16-3 overall record.

The Schulenburg baseball team has taken its fans on a magical ride this postseason. In five different games in the playoffs the Shorthorns have faced win-or-go-home situations and the Shorthorns have won all five.

Paris North Lamar ISD, a 4A school in East Texas, has named LHS grad and former Leps assistant Carlos Guevara as their new Head Football Coach. Guevara left LGISD after the 2023-2024 season to be the offensive coordinator at North Lamar.

When La Grange hosted its passing-only 7-on-7 state qualifying tournament earlier this month, that’s designed to showcase quarterbacks and receivers, they didn’t leave out the linemen. The event included a lineman challenge between the schools with events like a tug-of-war, and medicine ball distance throws. La Grange won the event. The Leopard lineman are shown below eating their trophy – a pan of twinkies and brownies.

The UIL State softball championships will be held this week at Red & Charline McCombs Field at UT. Lexington is making its first-ever state tourney appearance, and two of Lexington’s assistants have La Grange ties. Missy Zoch Herbrich is a former Lady Leps standout pitcher who won two state titles here, and Kadie Zamora is a former La Grange softball assistant who was part of those title teams at LHS.

The Fayetteville baseball team proved again they are the kings of Region IV-1A baseball. The Lions (16-3) won the regional crown in dominating fashion Thursday in Brenham, sweeping past Round Top-Carmine 15-1 and 20-0.

Flatonia head football coach and athletic director Brent Mascheck has announced he will be retiring June 30. Mascheck has been the head football coach at Flatonia the past two seasons, going 5-5 in 2023 and 1-9 in 2024.
