The Schulenburg and Flatonia boy’s basketball teams went toe-to-toe in a thrilling district rivalry rematch Friday night as Flatonia completed an enormous comeback and defeated the Shorthorns 45-44 to improve to 18-2 overall and remain undefeated in district at 7-0.

The Fayetteville girls basketball team beat North Zulch 68-58 Friday to officially clinch the District 29-1A title. Emma Jurecka led the way for the Lady Lions with 27 points. The Fayetteville girls have a 10-8 overall record and a 8-0 mark in district.

The Schulenburg girls basketball team went on the road and beat Flatonia 41-30 Friday as the Lady Horns improved to 15-3 overall and 8-0 in district. Airyanna Rodriguez led the way for Schulenburg with 15 points. Flatonia fell to 14-7 overall and 5-3 in district.

The No. 14-ranked La Grange girls soccer team hosted No. 5-ranked Bay City Friday and lost 3-1 though the Lady Leps trailed by just one point until Bay City scored a final goal with 12 second left in the game.

The La Grange High School swim team competed at their district meet on Jan 22, 2021 in Belton Texas at the Belton Swim Natatorium. Due to COVID only the top four finishers in each event will be able to go to regionals.

The La Grange boys basketball team went to Giddings Tuesday and won a thriller 35-31 over the Buffaloes. La Grange sophomore Jaxon Cooper hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 12 seconds to go in the game to put the Leps up 33-31 and then Jordan Scott made two free throws with five seconds left to put the game out of reach.

The Leopards boys soccer team beat El Campo at Leopard Stadium Tuesday 2-1 on goals by Victor Soto and Hector Orona. In the strangest of seasons, one thing was reliable. The La Grange girls were going to beat up on their district basketball foes.

The La Grange girls soccer game versus Manor New Tech was canceled by Manor Tuesday because of COVID complications. La Grange’s next match is scheduled for Friday at Leopard Stadium against Bay City.
