In Battle of State-Ranked Soccer Teams, LG Girls Fall to Bay City

The No. 14-ranked La Grange girls soccer team hosted No. 5-ranked Bay City Friday and lost 3-1 though the Lady Leps trailed by just one point until Bay City scored a final goal with 12 second left in the game.

La Grange’s lone goal was scored by Megan Davis off a corner kick from Jolie Gutierrez.

"I’m very proud of my team, we fought really hard and that’s a good Bay City team over there and we get another crack at them (on the road Saturday),” said La Grange girls soccer coach Chris Westall.

“These are the teams we need to play to see where we need to get to. They came out very physical and we responded. Glad to see the emotions. We’ll watch a lot of film on this one for sure.”

La Grange now has a 4-2-1 overall record and plays at Gonzales Tuesday before going to Bay City Saturday. – Jeff Wick
