La Grange graduate Trey East III continues to make a name for himself with the University of Houston track team. East ran a personal record 46.89 in the 400-meter dash, the ninth-fastest time in school history, in a meet over the weekend, the Tyson Invitational in Arkansas.

The La Grange boys basketball team can win the district title with a victory Tuesday in the regular season finale when they host Smithville at 7:30 p.m. The Leps are officially tied with Manor New Tech atop the standings with 9-2 records, but La Grange beat Manor both times this season, giving the Leps the tiebreaker advantage.

The Flatonia boys powerlifting team competed at Rice Consolidated High School on January 26 in their second meet of the year. The boys had an outstanding showing with the following lifters earning these results: Gentry Doyle 2nd place 132 lbs. division with a total of 865 lbs.

High School softball season officially starts next week. with La Grange hosting Lexington Monday. The JV game starts at 5 p.m. and the varsity game at 6:30 p.m. Then the Lady Leps play at the Brenham Tournament later in the week.
