Schulenburg ISD’s Allison Machac has been named the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Middle School Coach of the Year, and SISD’s Carol Hargadine was a finalist for TABC Assistant of the Year.

The Flatonia Lady Dogs lost their final district softball game 19-0 last week to the District 29-2A champion Weimar. The Lady Dogs were held hitless by Reagan Wick of Weimar. The Lady Dogs finish 11-15 & 4-8 in district.

The La Grange softball team will open the playoffs Thursday April 27 against Houston Wheatley at Rice Consolidated High School. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. but will begin 20 minutes after the completion of the 4 p.m. game being played prior.

The Schulenburg Shorthorns competed in the UIL Regional Golf Tournament in Corpus Christi last week finishing in 3rd place and advanced to the state tournament to be held on May 22-23 in Austin. The Horns were in 5th place at the end of the 1st day of competition. In the 2nd round the Horns improved their 1st round score by 15 strokes to edge out Snook and Junction and finish 3rd. The Fayetteville baseball team swept Richards Saturday 9-0 and 14-1. In that 9-0 win, Fayetteville got multi-hit games from Logan Fritsch, Reid Gross, Jack Schley, Travis Gully and Easton Jaeger.

The La Grange baseball team beat Manor New Tech 15-0 Saturday in a district game rescheduled because of last week’s storm. The win improves the Leps to 6-3 in district heading into Monday’s regular season finale at home at 7 p.m.
