Shorthorn Head Coach Placed on Leave

Schulenburg Independent School District placed Athletic Director Walter Brock on administrative leave pending an investigation into incidents that occurred during the varsity football game between Schulenburg High School and Hearne High School. Gilbert Price has been named Interim Head Coach while Brock is on administrative leave. Schulenburg ISD Superintendent Duane Limbaugh said, “I received reports that Coach Brock acted in an unprofessional manner on the sideline during the game and outside the locker room at half time. I expect all employees of Schulenburg ISD to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with their position as role models in our community.”

Green’s All-Around Football Production Helping Flatonia to its Strong 2022 Start

Flatonia sophomore Keegan Green showed up big on the defensive end during a 37-13 win against Thorndale last Friday with eight tackles and one interception. Green has also shown flashes of offense with 10 catches on the year and is the younger brother of former Athlete of the Week nominee Keyshaun Green. “He is one of the young guys that had to step,” said Flatonia head football coach Chris Freytag. “His production has been unreal. He has really stepped up. Proud of him.” Green’s outstanding defensive performance has made him our choice for this edition’s Player of the Week.

Leps Begin District Play Friday

The La Grange Leopard football team was off last week and district play starts for the Leps and the rest of 12-4A this week. Cuero has established itself as the clear favorite in the district, but the rest of the district seems wide-open for the taking. The Leps host Smithville this

Shorthorns Fall to 0-6

The Schulenburg football team continues to look for its first win of the season after falling 43-22 at Hearne Friday night. Keyshawn Langham threw for over 200 yards and Jeremiah Gurode had four touchdown receptions for Hearne.

Flatonia Dominates Again

The Flatonia Bulldogs won their fourth game in a row and took over sole possession of first place in their district with a 37-13 victory at Thorndale Friday. The Bulldogs are now 5-1 overall and 2-0 in district.

Volleyball Round-Up: Wins Abound

The La Grange volleyball team went on the road Friday and defeated Manor New Tech 25-3, 25-9, 25-8 to improve to 19-18 overall and 5-1 in district. They remain one game behind Giddings in the district standings.
