Triple Crowned
With District Titles in Hand, La Grange, Schulenburg and Fayetteville Basketball Teams Begin Postseason
It’s playoff time for girls basketball as three district championship teams from Fayette County (La Grange, Schulenburg and Fayetteville) join the postseason party.
Flatonia has also advanced to the playoffs as the fourth place team in a very tough District 28-2A.
The Lady Leps (10-5) were set to open the playoffs Thursday at 6 p.m. in Rockdale against Lake Belton (3-13). The winner of that game advances to play the winner of the Jasper/ Robinson game.
In Class 2A, the district champion Schulenburg Lady Horns get a chance at revenge against Thrall, the school that knocked them out of the volleyball playoffs three months ago in the regional finals. The Lady Horns were set to play Thrall Thursday at 7 p.m. in Caldwell.
Flatonia (14-9) was set to face Hearne in a first round playoff game Thursday at 7 p.m. at Brenham High School.
In Class 1A, Fayetteville won the district 29-1A title. They get a first round bye and will face the winner of the San Isidro versus Nueces Canyon game in the second round.
Boys Basketball
In boys basketball, the Flatonia Bulldogs clinched the District 28-2A title with a 51-37 win over Louise Tuesday.
