Tourney Wins Abound; RT-C Shines in Schulenburg
The La Grange volleyball team went 3-5 at the Bastrop Tournament last week as the Lady Leps moved their overall record to 7-11.
The Lady Leps beat Iowa Colony, Austin Travis and Austin Eastside, sandwiched around losses to Bellville, Killeen Chaparral, Del Valle, Manor and Lockhart.
The Lady Leps play their first home match of the regular season Tuesday at 6 p.m against East Bernard.
Schulenburg
The Schulenburg volleyball team won the first four matches of their home tournament last week, before losing their final three.
The Lady Horns have a 9-9 overall record.
They beat Industrial, Hallettsville, Weimar and Yoakum to start the tourney, but then fell twice to Victoria St. Joseph and to Goliad.
Goliad ended up winning the tournament title over East Bernard. Shiner won the silver bracket over Weimar and RT-C won the bronze bracket over Burton.
In Schulenburg’s tournament finale over St. Joseph, Landry Zapalac had 31 assists, Emmrie Marx had 21 kills and Kieryn Adams had 22 digs.
The Lady Horns host Burton Tuesday.
RT-C
After a tough first day at the Schulenburg Tournament, the Round Top-Carmine volleyball team went undefeated on days two and three to win the Bronze Bracket Championship verse Burton.
Friday they beat Edna, Brazos before knocking off Gonzales in the silver bracket semifinals and then Burton in the title match.
In that title match, here are the stats for the RT-C players: Mallory Krause 5 kills, 1 solo block, 9 digs, 21 assists, 2 aces; Tess Eilers 8 kills, 13 digs, 1 ace; Kaysie Ward 7 kills, 1 solo block, 2 assists blocks, 2 digs; Jessica Rohde 1 kill, 1 assist block, 3 digs, 1 ace; Jill Eilers 7 kills, 4 digs, 9 assists, 2 aces; Maggie Salinas 16 digs, 5 aces; Kim Rohde 2 kills, 3 assist blocks, 13 digs, 1 ace.
The Cubettes overall record is now 12-6.
RT-C’s Mallory Krause had a triple-double in the matches against East Bernard and Brazos in the tournament (and also in a match last Tuesday against Weimar).
Flatonia
The Flatonia volleyball team went 4-1 to win the Silver Bracket at the Nixon-Smiley Tournament.
Summer Sodek was named to the all-tournament team Flatonia defeated Tilden-McMullen County and Kenedy in pool play and lost to Falls City.
In bracket play Saturday they knocked off Ganado and Kenedy.

Flatonia defeated Kenedy in two sets 25-23, 25-23.

Aces: Elzah Herrera, Katelin Sullivan, and Sadie Noska with 2.
Blocks: Emma Klozik and Emma Kosler both had a single block. Katie Templeton, Katelin Sullivan, Emma Kosler, and Kalen Scott all had an assisted block.
Digs: Elzah Herrera with 7, Greenli VanZandt with 3, Summer Sodek with 3, and Saide Noska had 2.

Fayetteville
The Fayetteville volleyball team dropped its record to 6-8 overall with four losses at the Bellville Faith Academy tournament last week.
The Lady Lions host Milano Tuesday night.
Kayme Schley and Tara Vitek were among the kills leaders in the tourney for the Lady Lions and Marissa Rohde and Rylie Dyer led in assists.
